Angela Maoela is a dedicated and compassionate Registered Counselling Psychologist with a strong clinical focus on substance use recovery and emotional regulation. She completed her undergraduate, honours, and master’s training in Psychology at the University of the Free State, where she developed a solid foundation in evidence-based psychological care.

Angela brings a depth of experience working with individuals and families navigating addiction, relapse, and the psychological challenges that often accompany recovery. Her therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, systemic, and Gestalt frameworks, with a particular emphasis on structured, skills-based interventions.

A key area of Angela’s clinical expertise is the facilitation of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) groups within substance use treatment settings. She supports clients in developing practical tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and relapse prevention — all essential components of sustainable long-term recovery.

In addition to her work in addiction care, Angela has experience providing individual psychotherapy, couples and family counselling, and group-based interventions. Her background in adolescent and young adult mental health further strengthens her ability to address early patterns of substance use and the importance of timely, supportive intervention.

Angela is passionate about helping clients build lives rooted in stability, self-awareness, and meaningful change, and she is committed to providing compassionate psychological support throughout the recovery journey.
